The DomRaider adventure began in the summer of 2013, when Tristan Colombet, the IT enthusiast and former founder of Prizee.com (the leading casual gaming platform in Europe in the 2000s) founded the company 4X (which became DomRaider)… almost by serendipity!
This is because he was developing an entirely different project when he was faced with the issue of using an expired domain name. That taught him about the importance of second-hand domain names, and their advantages in leveraging their SEO assets, capitalizing on their scarcity, drawing on their natural traffic, or making their digital identity secure: dropcatching (also called snapping or backordering).
In the French market, there are nearly 3 million active .fr domain names, and over 30,000 are released each month. Some of them are hidden gems.
Identifying, categorizing, and revaluing domain names: this is the sizable challenge that the platform routinely tackles by combining performance and technology.
The platform very quickly became a leader in France, with clear international prospects. 4X changed its name and DomRaider was born.
